PRODUCT
WEST
Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) modelling is essential for practitioners and scientists who want to explore design alternatives, optimise plant operations to improve performance and reduce energy and resource usage, and implement control strategies. WWTP modelling is instrumental in achieving these goals. WEST is also an ideal learning tool that may be used by plant managers and operators to investigate the complex process dynamics and interactions that characterise a modern WWTP.
WEST is a sophisticated modelling and simulation tool for biological and chemical processes in wastewater and sludge treatment, which can be integrated urban water systems. WEST allows you to model biochemical and physical processes in water and sludge treatment, evaluate energy consumption and recovery potential, estimate operational costs and assess alternative strategies in an effective way.
This course is intended for beginners, who are either new to wastewater process modelling or new WEST users. The course provides an introduction to wastewater process modelling in WEST, how to navigate the user interface, and examples of the most commonly used features in WEST. You will be guided through the WEST modelling interface and learn how to setup a new project and make improvements to the plant layout.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
Do you have knowledge of wastewater processes and basic understanding of design principles? Are you new to process modelling, or new to WEST? Would you like to explore how WEST may help you optimize design alternatives or improve the performance of your treatment facilities? If yes, you will benefit from this free, self-paced course.
WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?
Upon course completion, you will be able to implement a plant layout, to simulate its operation (including basic control rules) and to generate the desired model output to assess performance.
LEARNING METHODOLOGY
Each module includes a video and step-by-step guide to lead you through an example project. It will take you around seven hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements – from the comfort of your own office, home or any convenient location.
