09:00–17:00 – Full-day conference

πŸ’· Fee: Free of charge β€” registration required

Why attend?

The UK & Ireland MIKE User Group Symposium 2026 is a practitioner-focused forum where you can:

  • Learn from real-world case studies that use MIKE 21, MIKE 3, as well as other MIKE Powered by DHI tools and digital solutions (e.g., MIKE+, FEFLOW)

  • Share your own modelling experience, from early exploratory work to flagship projects

  • Connect across disciplines and sectors, from offshore and coastal environments to estuaries, rivers, ports, terminals and cities

  • Strengthen your network with peers addressing similar challenges along the land–sea continuum

This year, we are placing particular emphasis on:

  • Structured networking and knowledge synthesis

  • Open discussion of modelling practice, including setup, assumptions, data, calibration/validation and communication of results

  • Opportunities to synthesise expertise and identify shared challenges and future collaboration

Who should attend?

This symposium is designed for marine and coastal modellers, engineers, authorities and the broader water resource management community in the region, including:

  • Practitioners involved in marine and coastal modelling and design

  • Inland and estuarine hydrologists and flood risk specialists

  • Professionals from local and regional authorities, regulators and environmental agencies

  • Marine spatial planning and coastal management professionals

  • Environmental and civil engineering consultants

  • Industry and utility representatives, including those delivering Asset Management Plan-related programmes

  • Researchers and academics working in hydrodynamics, waves, coastal morphology, ecohydrology and related fields

You do not have to be a long-time MIKE user to benefit. The event is also a valuable opportunity to see how MIKE and DHI digital solutions are applied in practice.

Programme highlights

  • User presentation on real-world MIKE applications

  • Short updates on relevant MIKE tools and capabilities

  • Dedicated time for networking and collaboration, where you can:

    • Meet peers tackling similar challenges across different regions and sectors

    • Compare modelling approaches, data strategies and workflows

    • Discuss calibration/validation practices, uncertainty and communication of results

    • Explore ideas for future knowledge exchange and collaboration

A detailed agenda will be shared closer to the event.

Call for abstracts

We invite you to submit an abstract for a 15–20-minute presentation showcasing how you are applying MIKE or DHI digital solutions in your work.

We particularly encourage contributions that:

  • Present applied case studies informing design, regulation, investment or policy

  • Explore innovative modelling approaches, including 1D/2D/3D coupling, validation, sensitivity analysis or scripting (e.g., MIKE IO, Python)

  • Address coastal climate risk, flood resilience, managed realignment or nature-based solutions

  • Deal with data limitations, uncertainty or complex regulatory contexts

  • Share lessons learned, pitfalls and good practice that others can benefit from

Abstract guidelines: approximately 200–300 words describing:

  • Project context and objectives

  • MIKE tools and/or digital solutions used

  • Key methods and findings

  • Main take-home messages for other practitioners

πŸ—“οΈ Abstract submission deadline: 1 September 2026
